NEW PRODUCT - Expel Yellow Tube, the perfect allwormer choice for your horse
Expel, the perfect allwormer choice for your horse
Expels unique combination of abamectin and morantel tartrate ensures that your horse will get complete protection against internal parasites. Expel is effective against tapeworm, small and large strongyles, pinworms, roundworms, hairworms, large mouth stomach worms, neck threadworms, bots, lungworms and intestinal threadworms.
Next generation worming
Horse wormers are becoming more sophisticated in the way they target worms. Some horse wormers today use a combination of actives such as “mectin” + “pyrantel/ morantel”. Expel uses the combination of abamectin + morantel tartrate as morantel tartrate alone has a greater anthelmintic activity than pyrantel. Another unique feature of Expel is that the abamectin and morantel tartrate have a synergist effect when combined, to become up to 99% effective against the tapeworm (Anoplocephala perfoliata) found in Australia, which eliminates the need for Expel to contain Praziquantel..
The fight against worm resistance
The dual actives contained in Expel reduces the chance of resistance developing to “mectin” wormers, because morantel acts on worms in a different way to abamectin. In short, abamectin causes paralysis in woms whereby morantel causes contraction and death of the worms. From younger horses that need protection from possible mectin resistant large roundworms, to pregnant and lactating mares, breeding stallions or any horse over 6 weeks of age, Expel is the perfect addition to any worming program to help fight mectin resistance.
Worming rotation
Value Plus recommends slow rotation, using one drug class for twelve months then changing to another drug class for the second year. therefore if you use a wormer like Expel (abamectin+morantel tartrate) then use a wormer from the BZ family, like Equinox® Orange Tube (Oxfendazole), for the second year (keeping into consideration that BZ wormers do not treat all worms). You will still need to worm with an allwormer in late May and late August to treat for bots and tapeworms..
Ease of use
Expel comes in an easy to use palatable aniseed flavoured paste that treats 600kg bodyweight per tube. It is safe to use on pregnant and lactating mares, breeding stallions and foals over 6 weeks of age..
